Coshocton Foundation Executive Director Bob Pell has announced that effective September 1, 2025, when contributors are making their donation to the Foundation or one of its underlying funds with a check, that it must be made payable to the Coshocton Foundation.
This is due to a change in the banking industry in an attempt to combat check fraud, which has become rampant. According to Pell, the Memo field of the check can be used to designate a fund, such as a class or family fund, or a gift in memory of someone.
“By adhering to this standard, we can avoid having to return a check to its maker, and deposit checks with confidence of their acceptance by financial institutions,” Pell stated.
Anyone with a question on how a check should be made payable is encouraged to call the Coshocton Foundation office during business hours, Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Coshocton Foundation staff members will assist you in making sure your contribution is credited according to your wishes.
